Dis Ole House was born from owner Julia’s desire to celebrate our island’s culture and food, believing that imported cuisines have been crowding out Barbados’s local styles and recipes.
We represent who we really are and what we really eat by highlighting the side of Barbados’s culinary and social experience grand not in stature, but in heart. For our locals, we call you back to the familiar nostalgia of the family gatherings of your youth, and for our visitors, we demonstrate what it means to eat at a Bajan’s table. Our wonderful backyard welcomes you!
Dis Ole House’s main building began its romance with Julia as an abandoned, overgrown, and derelict neighbourhood house. Seeing the potential and giving the house some much-needed love, the rejuvenated coral block house now welcomes customers into a modern, yet nostalgic environment.
Neatly nestled at the gates of once grand and opulent Sam Lord’s Castle, Dis Ole House now writes “our name on history’s page.” From its humble beginnings as a chattel house, Dis Ole House is proud to be a “guardian of our heritage,” where you will enjoy your time with friends and family, surrounded with Bajan nostalgia.
